The autistic brothers Rating: 5/5 stars Author: Thomas Clements Review: This is a good read for an insight into autism. It tells us the story of two brothers on the autism spectrum, one who has written the book and the other providing illustrations.  Both brothers are on opposite ends of the spectrum ranging from mild to severe symptoms of the illness.  Thomas who suffers from aspergers also known as mild autism suffers from alot of difficulties from getting bullied at school and having meltdowns, to not sustaining relationships and struggling with his independence. On the other hand, Jack who suffers from autism severely, relies on his routine which is to go to college, can communicate very little verbally by using repeated phrases (echolalia) and has picky eating habits. He hasnt gone through the same social spindle as his brother as he hasnt faced bullying even though outsiders do feel his stimming is rather odd.  Both brothers share the same love for trains and relian

The joy of doing just enough   Rating: 5/5 stars This book is something you will want to pick up and read again. I enjoyed reading this book and it was also a quick read for me. This book introduces a made-up word called satisficiency which is satisfaction and sufficiency together. This book has made me realise that it does not matter if you dont work for a big company or having a high social media following. This book teaches you how to do enough at home, work, socially and with your beauty regime. For example at work you should try and make yourself look busy even if you are not, socially just showing up to a party is enough as we get older we dont want to go to parties as they seem burdensome. With the beauty regime it is enough to just moisturise your skin daily and apply some lip balm. Another important chapter is relationships, it is enough to watch tv with family and spend time having dinner together rather than going on holiday.
Love For Imperfect Things- How to accept yourself in a world striving for perfection. Author: Haemin Sunim Rating 4/5 I chose to read this book as it's a spiritual read and so that it could be beneficial for my mental health due to self-acceptance. About the book: Haemin Sunim is a Buddhist and prior to this he embarks on studying the religion as it becomes his main interest. There are many chapters in this book which make the reader feel inner-peace, to self-accept one self, family and those around them. My favourite chapter is the final chapter of the book which is acceptance. This relates to me because somethings cannot be achieved due to my situation or background which you have to accept. Another chapter which is worth reviewing is courage. You need to be courageous to let go of the negative energy of the past and be enlightened which means present mind.  Throughout the opening of chapters Haemin Sunim writes his own encounters such as his relationship with h
Surrounded by idiots  Author: thomas erikson Rating: 3 out of 5 stars This is a book I decided to read during quarantine. This book was an interesting read and is also well structured. The book is based on Marston theory of behaviour which is then further developed by the author. The 4 behaviour personalities are: red, yellow, green and blue. As majority of the population are green, I also self-identify as a green. Also, majority of people also have two colours.  Briefly, reds are quick, fiesty, dont like repetition or routine and you would tend to find your boss to be a red. Yellows are happy go lucky, dont listen though they think they do and are very creative. Greens are neutral, great listeners, can be whiny and laid back. Blues like routine, are very analytical but also critical.  This book also talks about anger and stress management and how these behaviour personalities deal with the anger and stress. There is a history of this behaviour personality dating ba
The Rosie Result Rating: 3.5/5 stars Author: Graeme Simsion This book is a sequel to the Rosie Project. I rated this book 3.5 out of 5 stars because it does include real situations in it such as Don and Rosie having to adjust their work schedules according to Hudson's (their son) schooling. This book is about Don and his son living parallel lives. It brings us back to Don's upbringing and how he didnt want to have the relationship with Hudson how he had with his father. Don and Hudson both self-identify themselves as autistic as they both struggled to socially fit in at school. Don had helped Hudson fit In at school by helping him learn things that are neurotypical of nature such as learning how to catch a ball.  Don also builds his own business known as 'The Library' which is a bar with a suitable atmosphere for Aspies. Hudson is very intelligent for his age and learns to code for the app and this brings success to the business as many customers
My first book review on SM Book Blog Title of book: why we sleep Author: Matthew Walker My rating: 5 stars Just finished reading this book that I bought as a birthday present as i was gifted a waterstones gift card by my sister. I had my eye on this book for a while and I had already read a chapter of this book inside the store. This book is on the recommended reading list of Bill Gates which you would find on Gates Notes. Now onto my review of this book. This book was an interesting read and I would definitely recommend it to science/ psychology/ health students. What I learnt from this book is that there is alot more to just obtaining around 8 hours of sleep per night. A person will go through light NREM sleep, Deep NREM sleep to REM sleep till wakefulness. These are the four stages of sleep and it has been found that some people have disturbed sleep in these stages such as those with Austism Spectrum Disorder. It has been found that not getting eno
